Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career? At Worle Community School we are on an improvement journey - we are looking for staff to join our team and help us work towards our goals. If you are committed to improving outcomes for young people, being a part of a dedicated team and having a fulfilling career - we could be the right fit for you!

WCSA is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to guide our Religious Studies department into the future, starting with us for the Summer Term (or as soon as possible thereafter). A willingness to teach and lead GCSE sociology alongside RS would be desirable. Sociology is a popular option subject at WCSA and sits alongside the other Humanities subjects that we offer.

As Head of Religious Studies, you will shape an engaging curriculum that fosters critical thinking, empathy, and interfaith understanding. You’ll work within a dedicated team of Humanities specialists ensuring our students gain a nuanced understanding of global faith traditions and ethical frameworks.

The ideal candidate is an experienced teacher with a deep knowledge of religious studies, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to nurturing inclusive, meaningful dialogue. A proven ability to inspire both students and staff is essential. If you’re ready to make a lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you.

At Worle Community School, we work hard to make our students, staff and communities PROUD of Worle. We aim to be:

Prepared

Respectful

Optimistic

Understanding

Determined

WCSA is a community school at heart - we focus on developing children and young people into well rounded individuals, who leave school not only with good grades, but also valuable life experiences and an aspirational mindset, with high expectations of, and for, themselves.

At WCSA, we also look after our colleagues. We offer high quality development opportunities and a supportive, dynamic and diverse workplace, highly supported by a hands-on team in all areas, from support, to teaching, to senior leadership. We invest in staff to develop them as classroom practitioners.

At WCSA, staff benefit from:

A coaching programme to develop their practice within the classroom, working together to find solutions to improve learning and progress for all students.

An excellent CPD programme based around WalkThrus materials that really allows staff to make use of research informed pedagogy to embed effective teaching strategies in the classroom.

What you will do to be successful here;

  • Lead and develop a vibrant Religious Studies curriculum that inspires curiosity, critical thinking, and interfaith understanding.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment that encourages respectful dialogue and exploration of global faith traditions.
  • Ensure high academic standards, innovative teaching methods, and meaningful assessment strategies.

What you will need to succeed;

  • Proven experience as a dynamic and effective educator, with leadership or department management experience preferred (but not essential).
  • A commitment to WCSA’s values.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications.

We pride ourselves on being a flexible employer and strive to accommodate a variety of working arrangements, so we encourage you to apply. At our school, we take staff workload seriously and prioritise creating a supportive environment where teamwork is at the heart of everything we do.
